Library Affiliations and Funding

Pocono Mountain Public Library belongs to the Easton District Libraries, and is a member of the Public Libraries of Monroe County.  We coordinate with both the district and the county to enhance patron services and collections through the use of State funding.

Pocono Mountain Public Library is part of the Spark PA Integrated Library System (PaILS), and participates in regional resource sharing of collections for patrons via the Lehigh Valley Pocono Grouping.  A library card at Pocono Mountain Public Library is good to use at any library in Monroe County.

The Library receives annual State Aid from Pennsylvania Office of Commonwealth Libraries and one mill in tax support each from Mount Pocono Borough and Coolbaugh Township from a voter referendum won in 1994.

We also receive one mill from Coolbaugh Township from a voter referendum won in 2008 to support our new library building construction and bond repayment which ends in 2029.  The Coolbaugh Township Supervisors are significant to the success of the library.

The library's funding based on voter referndums in 1994 and 2008 has been altered since the countywide property tax reassessment in 2020.  This is under dispute and is being challenged in court.

The library is governed by Statutory Laws from the State of Pennsylvania.  https://www.pa.gov/en/agencies/statelibrary/resources/library-laws-and-regulations.html
