Alex Trebek, one of television’s most iconic names, recently passed away at the age of 80. Many honors have been bestowed upon Trebek, and he will be missed. He will forever be synonymous with the popular game show, Jeopardy!. Since 1984, Trebek has hosted over 8,200 episodes of Jeopardy, won a Peabody Award in 2011, inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2018, and won his 7th Daytime Emmy Award in 2020.
As the host of Jeopardy, Alex Trebek inspired America to be curious. Trebek fostered a love for facts and information that any lover of libraries and education can appreciate. Jeopardy brought World History, Literature, Mythology, Geography, Science, Music, Math, Physics, Pop Culture, and so much more to our living rooms. To learn about these topics and more, visit our library catalog and reserve a title!
To learn more about Alex Trebek, consider reading his memoir just published last summer, The Answer Is… : Reflections on My Life, where Trebek gives us his thoughts on a range of interesting topics in addition to revealing the reason why he shaved his mustache. Available at Pocono Mountain Public Library.
In honor of Alex Trebek, I did a guitar tutorial on the Jeopardy! Theme. We hope you enjoy it.
